This is a Two-Part Promotion. It is a Contest and a Contest Voter Sweepstakes, respectively named: The Cooking Light “Casting Call” Contest which takes place from 6/14 – 10/23/10 and The Cooking Light “Casting Call Contest” Reader Voter Sweepstakes which takes place within the contest period on the dates 8/23 – 9/8/10.

Contest Dates: The Cooking Light “Casting Call” Contest to name the Cooking Light Healthy Cook of the Year (the “Contest”) begins at 12:01 A.M. EST on Monday, June 14, 2010 and ends at 11:59 P.M. EST on Saturday, October 23, 2010 (the “Contest Period”).

How to Enter: To enter online, go to www.cookinglight.com/castingcall and follow the instructions to submit a 3-minute video audition, from prep to plate, of yourself conducting a cooking demonstration of a healthy, original recipe that you have created. Use Cooking Light as a guide for what healthy cooking means, including the nutrition guidelines on the Cooking Light Website at http://www.cookinglight.com/eating-smart/nutrition-101/. And, write an original 250-word-or-less essay about your culinary interest, background, philosophy or approach to creative, healthy cooking, and why you should be named Cooking Light Healthy Cook of the Year.

Entries must be submitted between 12:01 A.M. EST on Monday, June 14, 2010 and no later than 11:59pm EST on Saturday, August 14, 2010 (“Contest Entry Period”). Limit: One Entry per person, per email address during the Contest Period. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, illegible, incomplete or entries not received for any reason.

Entries become sole property of Sponsor and none will be acknowledged or returned. By entering, Entrant warrants that his or her entry (1) is original and does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party, (2) has not been published in any medium or (3) has not won an award.

Once a Video Submission has been submitted, it may not be edited by the entrant or resubmitted with revisions. Video Submissions received during the Contest Period will first be previewed and screened by Sponsor, whose decisions will be final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest. Entries which pass the screening process will then be posted online at the Contest Site for public viewing and voting. For purposes of these Official Rules, receipt of entry occurs when the web servers of the Contest successfully receive the uploaded video file and record the required entry information.

Video Submissions must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Formal/Running Time: Video must not exceed 60MB or 3-minutes in length maximum, including any credits, and must be in .mov, .avi, .wmv or .mpg file format. If entry is longer than 3-minutes, only the first 3 minutes will be judged.
  • Creative Requirements: Video Submission must include A RECIPE THAT BEGINS WITH AT LEAST ONE FRESH PRODUCE INGREDIENT (uncooked fruit or vegetable), plus any other ingredients of your choice, used in healthy quantities and proportions. The fresh produce item can either be cooked or left raw.
  • Original: Video Submissions must be the original work of the entrant and have not previously been published, in whole or in part, or have won an award or prize of any kind.

Compliance: Video Submissions must not:

  1. Depict dangerous or reckless conduct, including risky or unsafe cooking techniques or activities;
  2. Include trademarks, logos, or copyrighted material not owned by entrant or used without permission (such as brand names, company names, music, photographs, works of art, or images published on or in web sites, television, movies, or other media) sponsor reserves the right to edit or blur references to third party brands, logos or works;
  3. Use individuals' names, in whole or in part (including the entrant’s last name) without permission;
  4. Refer to public figures;
  5. Contain profanity, pornographic, or sexual content, content promoting illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms, or weapons, hateful content of any kind (including racism, sexism, etc.), content that promotes violence or harm to another living creature, or any other offensive, obscene, or inappropriate content;
  6. Defame, misrepresent, or contain disparaging remarks about other people or companies, including, but not limited to sponsor;
  7. Promote a political agenda regardless of the political affiliation;
  8. Primarily act as an advertisement or product placement for any particular product or service;
  9. Contain materials embodying the names, likenesses, photographs, or other identifying elements of any person, living, or dead without permission.

By entering the Contest, each entrant represents and warrants that (i) the Video Submission is the original work of the entrant and has not previously been published or have won an award or prize of any kind; (ii) he or she has obtained all the rights, licenses, and permissions in writing from each person (including parent/legal guardian) who appeared in or helped to create the Video Submission; and (iii) the Video Submission does not infringe or violate the rights of any third party, including but not limited to, copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, logos, contract and licensing rights, rights of publicity or privacy, moral rights, or any other intellectual property rights. Entries that are deemed by the Sponsor, in its sole discretion, to be in violation of these Official Rules, the Terms of Use, or to be otherwise infringing, defamatory, or generally not in keeping with the image of Sponsor, will be disqualified and deleted.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, Void outside the United States, in Canada, Puerto Rico and wherever else prohibited by law. Entrants, and all persons appearing in Video Submissions, must be 21 years or older, at time of entry and self-taught or professionally trained cooks, but not paid to cook for a living. If your primary source of income comes from cooking, you are not eligible to enter this contest.

Employees of Cooking Light (the “Sponsor”) and its promotional partners and their respective parents, affiliates and subsidiaries, participating advertising and promotion agencies (and members of their immediate family and/or those living in the same of household of each such employee) whether or not related, are not eligible to enter or win a prize.

JUDGING: There will be three rounds of judging:

  1. Entries for video and essay submissions will be judged by Cooking Light Magazine editors based on a set of predetermined criteria. The video judging criteria includes: Culinary Skill (50%); Entertainment Value (25%); and Originality (25%). The essay judging criteria includes: Originality (50%) and Language (50%). The video submission will account for 90% of the judging score and the essay submission will account for 10 % of the judging score. The eight (8) top scoring combined entries in both categories will be determined by August 23, 2010 and will move on to the second round.
  2. The eight (8) top scoring combined entries in both the video and essay categories, from the first round of judging will be posted onto the Contest Website on August 23, 2010, where the public may vote for their favorite entry. The four (4) entries that receive the most votes will move on to the third round. Public voting begins 12:01 A.M. EST on August 23, 2010 and ends 11:59 P.M. EST on September 8, 2010.

    The Cooking Light Editors’ votes will comprise 70% of the final overall tally and Cooking Light Readers’ votes will comprise 30% of the final overall tally. Readers will be allowed to vote once per day per person or email address. Judges’ decisions on all aspects of the Contest are final.

    Readers who vote will also be automatically entered into the Cooking Light “Casting Call” Reader Voter Sweepstakes, which will take place between Monday, August 23, 2010 and Wednesday, September 8, 2010 (see addendum below and www.cookinglight.com/sweepstakes for details) and will be eligible to win One (1) First Prize that includes a Trip to Atlanta, Georgia for the Winner and a Guest to attend the October 23, 2010 Cook-Off event to determine the Casting Call Contest Grand Prize Winner, which will take place at the 2010 Taste of Atlanta Event. It will be a three-day/two-night trip beginning on Friday, October 22, 2010 and ending on Sunday, October 24, 2010. See trip details below in addendum for Casting Call Voter Sweepstakes.
  3. The top four Casting Call finalists (4) entries will be posted on the Contest Website and these contestants will appear in a filmed cook-off on Saturday, October 23, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia at the 2010 Taste of Atlanta Event, where the Grand Prize Winner will be determined. Any finalist who cannot be reached at the phone number and address provided or who is unable to attend the final judging on the dates determined by the Sponsor will forfeit their chance to compete.

    The finalists will fly to Atlanta, Georgia as guests of the Sponsor, on Friday, October 22, 2010 and will prepare their recipes on-site in the Cooking Light Test Kitchens for judging. Judges will announce the Grand Prize Winner at the event. Entries will be judged by Cooking Light representatives. Judges’ decisions on all aspects of the Contest are final.

The Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of the Trip Package for each Finalist is: $ 1,100.00

The Finalist Trip will include: One (1) three-day/two-night trip to Atlanta, Georgia; One (1) round-trip, coach air fare from a major airline terminal nearest the finalist’s primary home (ARV: $500); Round-trip ground transportation from the Atlanta airport to the hotel,($150); Standard double occupancy accommodations ($200.00); Meals for Three Days/Two Nights ($200), and transportation to and from the event ($50.00). All other expenses, not specifically mentioned herein (telephone, in-room and personal charges) are the responsibility of the finalist.

The Grand Prize Winner will be selected by a Cooking Light Panel of Judges, convened specifically for this occasion and purpose; and based on a set of predetermined criteria: Culinary Skill (50%); Entertainment Value (25%); and Originality (25%). The Grand Prize Winner will be notified at the cook-off event in Atlanta on Saturday, October 23, 2010 and will be announced in the Jan/Feb 2011 issue of Cooking Light Magazine and on cookinglight.com. Decisions of judges are final and binding.

PRIZES AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE: $11,500.00

Four (4) prizes will be awarded. There will be three (3) finalist winners and one overall Grand Prize Winner (selected from among the four finalists).

The Grand Prize Winner will be named Cooking Light Healthy Cook of the Year and receive a Prize Package Valued at $10,000, with a $7,000 Gift Card for a Kitchen Makeover and a $3,000 Gift Card for a One (1) Year Supply of Groceries, and may become a regular contributor to Cooking Light Magazine and cookinglight.com.

Each of the three (3) finalist winners will receive a $500 Gift Card (ARV: $1,500).

ALL TAXES ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER. The prize is awarded without warranty, express or implied, of any kind.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION: No transfer, assignment, or substitution of a prize permitted, except Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize (or prize component) for an item of equal or greater value at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Nothing in these official contest rules shall obligate Sponsor to publish or otherwise use any entry submitted in connection with this Contest. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Entrants agree to be bound by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Contest. By entering, Entrant represents that any essay, information and other materials submitted as part of Entrant’s Contest entry are original and will not constitute an invasion of privacy or otherwise infringe upon the rights of any third party, and that the Entrant owns or has the rights to convey any and all right and title in such essay or other materials. In addition, Winning Entrants grant to Sponsor a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to edit, publish, promote, republish at any time in the future and otherwise use Entrant’s submitted video, along with Entrant’s name, likeness, biographical information, and any other information provided by Entrant, in any and all media for possible editorial, promotional or advertising purposes, without further permission, notice or compensation (except where prohibited by law).

Potential Winner, as a condition of receiving any prize, also may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release and where legally permissible a Publicity Release and confirmation of a license as set forth above within twenty-four (24) hours following the date of first attempted notification, certifying, among other things, the following: (a) entry does not defame or invade the privacy of any party; (b) entry does not infringe upon the rights of any third party; and (c) the essay and any other materials submitted are original and have never been published and entry has never won an award. Failure to comply with this deadline may result in forfeiture of the prize and selection of an alternate winner. Return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. Acceptance of the prize constitutes permission for Sponsor and its agencies to use Winner’s name and/or likeness, biographical information, essay, other materials submitted for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law. By entering and/or accepting prize, Entrants and Winners agree to hold Sponsor and its promotional partners, its directors, officers, employees and assigns harmless for liability, damages or claims for injury or loss to any person or property, (including death), relating to, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, participation in this Contest, the acceptance and/or subsequent use or misuse, or condition of any of the prizes awarded, or claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy. False or deceptive entries or acts will render the Entrant ineligible. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the immediate and unrestricted right to disqualify any entrant or prize winner, if either commits or has committed any act, or has been involved or becomes involved in any situation or occurrence which the Sponsor deems likely to subject the Sponsor, entrant or winner to ridicule, scandal or contempt or which reflects unfavorably upon the Sponsor in any way. If such information is discovered by Sponsor after a winner has received notice of his prize and before the prize is awarded, Sponsor may rescind the prize in its entirety. If a portion of his/her prize has already been awarded, Sponsor may withdraw the remainder of the prize that has been fulfilled. Decisions of the Sponsor are final and binding in all matters related to this paragraph. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the contest, or in the announcement of the prize.

INTERNET: Sponsor is not responsible for lost or late entries nor for electronic transmission errors resulting in omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations or transmission, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials, or for technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions or limitations of any kind, or inaccurate transmissions of or failure to receive entry information by Sponsor or presenter on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site or any combination thereof. If for any reason the Internet portion of the program is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest, the Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to select winners from eligible entries received as of the termination date. CAUTION: Any attempt by a contestant to deliberately damage any Web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the game is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such contestant to the fullest extent of the law. If there is a dispute as to the identity of the Entrant, the prize will be awarded to the authorized account holder of the email address. The “authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person to whom the email address is assigned.

GOVERNING LAW: This Contest is governed by the internal laws of the state of New York without regard to principles of conflict of laws. All cases and claims pertaining to this Contest must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in the City of New York, without recourse to class action suits.

SEVERABILITY: If any provision of these Rules is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction or appointed arbitrator, such determination shall in no way affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision herein.

The Cooking Light “Casting Call Contest” Reader Voter Sweepstakes

Sweepstakes Eligibility: The Cooking Light “Casting Call Contest” Reader Voter Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia (U.S.), age 21 or older at the time of entry. Void outside the US, in Puerto Rico, and wherever else prohibited by law. Employees of Cooking Light, a division of the Time Inc. Lifestyle Group (the "Sponsor") and its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, and the immediate family members of, and/or those living in the same household of each, are not eligible to enter. Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Sweepstakes Entry: There are Two (2) ways to enter.

Method #1: Visit www.cookinglight.com/sweepstakes and vote for your favorite video submission in The Cooking Light “Casting Call” Contest and you will be automatically entered into The Cooking Light “Casting Call Contest” Reader Voter Sweepstakes. Follow all entry instructions to complete and submit the online entry form. Online entries must be received between 12:01 AM, Eastern Time (“ET”) Monday, August 23, 2010 and 11:59 PM Eastern Time (“ET”) Wednesday, September 8, 2010 (the "Sweepstakes Entry Period"). Online entrants are subject to all notices posted online including but not limited to the Sponsor’s Privacy Policy. Limit: One online video vote per person or email address per day. In the event of a dispute, online entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the Authorized Account Holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. "Authorized Account Holder" means the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.

Method #2: Mail a postcard, including your name, complete address, email address and phone number to: The Cooking Light “Casting Call Contest” Reader Voter Sweepstakes, c/o The US Sweepstakes & Fulfillment Co., 625 Panorama Trail (Bldg. 2, Suite 100), Rochester, NY 14625. Each postcard must be mailed separately and must be postmarked between Monday, August 23, 2010 and Wednesday, September 8, 2010 and received by Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Prize/Odds of winning.   • Airfare: Round-trip Airfare for Two (2) for the winner and a guest, from a major airport nearest the winner’s primary home to the Atlanta Airport. Winner and travel companion/guest must travel on same itinerary. (ARV: $1,000)
  • Hotel Accommodations: A three-day/two-night stay, for Two (2) Individuals, the winner and a guest, at an Atlanta, Georgia hotel provided by Cooking Light and based on double occupancy. Some restrictions may apply. Advance reservations are required. (ARV: $500.00)
  • Transportation: Round-trip ground transportation from the Atlanta airport to the hotel ($150) and transportation to and from the event ($50.00).
  • Meals: A $400 Stipend for Meals for Winner and Guest for three-days/two-nights (ARV: $400)

Odds of winning will depend upon the total number of eligible entries received, but is estimated at 1:10,000.

Random Drawing: The winner will be selected in a random drawing on or about Tuesday, September 14, 2010 from among all eligible entries received. It will take place at the offices of The US Sweepstakes & Fulfillment Company, an independent agent of the Sponsor whose decisions are final.

Winner will be confirmed via email and/or phone, and will be required to sign and return, within ten (10) days of notification, an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Waiver, a W-9 Form and where allowable, a Publicity Release (collectively, "the Releases"). Travel companion of winner will also be required to sign a travel liability waiver. Noncompliance will result in disqualification and an alternate winner being selected.

If a winner is otherwise eligible under these Official Rules, but is nevertheless deemed a minor in his or her state of primary residence, the prize will be awarded in the name of winner's parent or legal guardian who will be required to execute and return Affidavit/Release on minor’s behalf. If Affidavit/Release is returned as undeliverable or if the selected winner cannot accept or receive the prize for any reason, or he/she is not in compliance with these Official Rules, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected in a separate random drawing.

Prize Conditions: All travel related expenses for ground transportation to and from home and destination airports, taxes, gratuities, incidentals, upgrades, insurance, service charges, airport surcharges, departure taxes, hotel, resort or property fees, food & beverage and personal expenses such as telephone/Internet charges, and gift shop purchases are the sole responsibility of prize winner. Winner and travel companion must travel on same itinerary. Prize must be used on dates specified which are October 22 - October 24, 2010, or prize will be forfeited. Dates are subject to change. Winner and travel companion must have valid photo ID prior to departure. Airline regulations apply.

Availability is subject to factors such as weather, seasonality and space availability. Reservations are subject to availability. If weather affects the ability for winner and his/her guest to redeem any portion of prize during the scheduled date and time, then the Sponsor shall have no further obligation to the winner and/or guest other than to supply the remaining elements of the prize package minus the unused portion of prize. If for any reason whatsoever, winner and/or guests are unable to travel after all travel arrangements have been made and paid, the Sponsor shall have no further obligation to the winner. If Grand Prize is forfeited prior to Sponsor finalizing and paying for travel, and there is sufficient time to notify an alternate winner, the prize will be awarded to an alternate winner in a separate random drawing from among all non-winning eligible entries. Winner and guest are responsible for obtaining the proper travel documentation (e.g., valid photo ID) prior to travel. Winner’s guest must be legal U.S. resident, 18 years or older and must complete and return a Liability/Publicity/Travel Release prior to travel as noted above.

The prize package will be awarded within approximately 30 days after the winner is verified. If a prize notification or prize is returned as undeliverable, or if winner is found to be ineligible or not in compliance with these rules that winner will be disqualified, and the prize will be awarded to an alternate winner in a separate random drawing.

Prize is not redeemable for cash. Prize is non-assignable or transferable. No substitution is permitted except if prize is unavailable, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded. No cash in lieu of prize and no exchange or substitution of prize, except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Any other incidental expenses on prize not specified herein are the winner’s sole responsibility.

Winner is responsible for all federal, state, local and income taxes associated with winning prize. Winner will be required to furnish his/her social security number for the sole purpose of preparation of any tax forms as required by law. Except where prohibited by law, entry and acceptance of prize constitute permission to use winner's name, prize won, hometown, likeness, video tape, photographs, and statements for purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity (including online posting) in any and all media now or hereafter known throughout the world in perpetuity, without additional compensation, notification or permission. Prize is guaranteed to be awarded.

Winner acknowledges that the Official Sponsor and all other businesses affiliated with this Sweepstakes and their agents do not make, nor are in any manner responsible for any warranty, representations, expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relative the quality, conditions, fitness or merchantability of any aspect of the prize being offered, except that each merchandise prize shall be subject to its manufacturer’s standard warranty (if any).

General: Participating entrants agree to these Official Rules and the decisions of The US Sweepstakes & Fulfillment Company, Cooking Light, the Sponsor, and release the Sponsor, their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, distributors, retails, advertising and promotion agencies and all other businesses involved in this Sweepstakes, as well as the employees, officers, directors and agents of each, from any and all liability, claims, lawsuits, costs, expenses, fees, injuries (including death), losses, and damages which may be sustained either directly or indirectly, 1) the awarding, acceptance, receipt, possession, use and/or misuse of prize awarded herein; or 2) participation in the Sweepstakes or traveling to or from any prize-related activity. Sponsor is not responsible if Sweepstakes cannot take place or if any prize cannot be awarded due to travel cancellations, delays or interruptions due to acts of God, acts of war, natural disasters, weather or acts of terrorism. Grand Prize Winner assumes all liability for any injury or damage caused or claimed to be caused, by participation in this Sweepstakes or use or redemption of prize. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Sweepstakes or in the announcement of the prize.

Privacy: By entering and providing the required entry information, Entrants acknowledge that the Sponsor may also send information, samples or special offers it believes may be of interest to Entrant, or other information or goods offered by its marketing partners.
